Police believe a body found in a black vehicle down an embankment on the A172 near the Cleveland Tontine is that of Tracey Smith, 57, who went missing from the Stokesley area on July 24. Si King set to visit Whitby in 2026 Literary Festival
Whitby Lit Fest will run from November 19 to 22, with more than 50 events featuring Si King, John Boyne, Steph McGovern, Louise Minchin, Ann Cleeves, Mark Billingham, Greta Scacchi, Corinne Bailey Rae and other authors, broadcasters and performers. The programme spans cookery, crime and gothic fiction, screenwriting, travel writing, memoir and children’s literature. York Minster visitor airlifted to hospital after medical incident
A visitor suffered a medical incident on the roof of York Minster and was rescued by emergency crews using an aerial platform ladder. Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service attended, while parts of the Minster and Minster Yard were temporarily cordoned off. The patient was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary and was in a stable condition. Reports of Rape and Sexual Abuse at Harrogate Army College
Four women told the BBC they experienced rape, sexual assault or harassment while under-19 recruits at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate.
