Japan’s ambassador to Yemen, Yoichi Nakashima, said Tokyo supports Saudi Arabia’s efforts to protect Red Sea security and is considering participation in a Saudi-led international coalition. Japan has urged Iran to press the Houthis to avoid further escalation and supports a political settlement to Yemen’s conflict under relevant UN resolutions. Nakashima also announced the imminent opening of a Japanese-funded Port of Aden rehabilitation project and described plans to shift assistance toward development, including support for displaced people, customs, and vocational training. He credited substantial Saudi support with helping stabilize Aden and strengthen Yemen’s government, while warning that the country remains at a critical juncture after years of conflict.

Yemen’s Armed Forces spokesman Abdu Majly warned that Iranian involvement, including a direct Mahan Air flight carrying IRGC personnel to Houthi‑held Sanaa, threatens Yemen’s sovereignty and regional security. Yemeni and coalition authorities condemned the move as a violation of international law and an escalation that undermines peace efforts. Majly reported Houthi military mobilization on several fronts and accused the group of threatening Red Sea navigation. The armed forces affirmed readiness to counter any escalation and defend Yemen’s territory and institutions, while coalition representatives warned of strong retaliation to any attacks.
