Obituary: Businessman who worked on Dunston Hall dies at 79
Jack Chamberlain, a businessman and former stock-racing champion from Norfolk, died on June 28 aged 79. Born in Swainsthorpe, he worked in haulage, farming and trucking before establishing a successful firewood business whose woodyard was located on the Dunston Hall estate and helped create the hotel's tree-lined drive. He later moved with his first wife, Maureen, to the Isle of Wight, Gozo and Michigan, where he worked at a campground, before returning to England and settling near Woodbridge in Suffolk. After Maureen died from bone marrow cancer in 2001, Chamberlain remarried Barbara and devoted himself to family life, gardening and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
