Enoch Burke returned to Wilson’s Hospital School in County Westmeath as the new term began, despite court orders banning him from the premises. He owes €208,268.18 in outstanding fines from a total of €273,200, has spent more than 700 days in prison for contempt of court, and faces substantial legal costs and a Teaching Council disciplinary hearing. Burke was suspended and later dismissed after opposing the use of a student’s requested name and they/them pronouns on religious grounds. Judge Brian Cregan released him from prison despite his refusal to promise not to trespass, but Burke continues to challenge his dismissal and the court’s decisions.

An inquest heard that doctors treating 73-year-old Caroline Savage did not focus exclusively on her use of the weight-loss drug Mounjaro before her death. The coroner concluded that Savage died from faecal peritonitis caused by perforated sigmoid diverticular disease, with no established link to Mounjaro. She had attended Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with severe abdominal pain, remained in an ambulance, received pain relief and tests, and was discharged after clinicians failed to diagnose the underlying condition. She later collapsed and died at home. The coroner found no systemic defect in the emergency department but raised concerns about sparse records and communication between paramedics and hospital staff. Savage’s family maintained that Mounjaro may have been too readily considered as an explanation for her symptoms.
