Double yellow lines generally prohibit waiting at any time, although limited exceptions may apply for loading or vehicles displaying a blue badge. Single yellow line restrictions operate only during times shown on nearby signs or zone-entry notices. Drivers who receive a Penalty Charge Notice may receive a 50% reduction for prompt payment, while unpaid charges can increase and lead to court action. Incorrectly issued notices can be challenged with evidence, first through the relevant council and then, if necessary, through an independent tribunal; private parking charges follow a separate appeals process.
