Rachael Talbot, 50, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court to four months in prison after admitting three counts of conveying prohibited articles into HMP Liverpool and possessing cocaine. She had concealed packages containing ketamine, cannabis resin and cannabis leaf in her bra while visiting an inmate known as “Carlos.” Talbot said she initially agreed to the £200 delivery but withdrew after threats that her home would be attacked and her children harmed. Despite her limited criminal history, low assessed risk of reoffending and responsibility for three children with complex needs, the judge said the serious impact of drugs in prisons required an immediate custodial sentence.

Annika Sands admitted stalking Bradley McCreath and his new partner, Corinne Roberts, after a short relationship with McCreath ended. The harassment included repeated appearances near their homes and workplaces, unwanted contact, surveillance-like behaviour and searches for personal information, causing both victims to change their lifestyles and move from their homes. Liverpool Crown Court sentenced Sands to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years, and imposed six-year restraining orders preventing contact with either victim. The judge described the conduct as entrenched and obsessive, while noting Sands’s remorse, lack of previous convictions and prospects for rehabilitation.
