Former University of Cambridge professor at centre of plagiarism row is found dead
Jason Arday, the University of Cambridge’s youngest Black professor, was found dead at his home in Battersea, London, aged 41. Police said the death was unexpected but not believed to be suspicious, and the cause remained unknown. Arday resigned from Cambridge on 5 August after reports raised allegations of plagiarism and questioned other claims in his work, although an inquiry at Liverpool John Moores University had cleared him of misconduct. His family and publisher said he had endured sustained abuse and a misinformation campaign. Cambridge had announced independent reviews of relevant processes and of Arday’s appointment before his death.
