Dog attacks on Royal Mail workers dropped 8 percent to 2,019 incidents in 2025–26 but remain high, with an average of 38 attacks per week and significant injuries leading to thousands of lost workdays. The Sheffield postcode recorded the most attacks, followed by Doncaster, Guildford, Newcastle and Portsmouth. Most incidents occurred on private property, often at the front door or through letterboxes. Injured postwoman Katy Davies described lasting effects from a serious attack, while Royal Mail urged owners to secure their pets to protect delivery staff.
