The 6 Star Foods of the Season

06 May 2013  |  Qué Pasa
With the arrival of spring, it's time to incorporate foods that are not only delicious but also provide nutrients for maintaining excellent health. Asparagus, available from March to June, boosts the immune system and helps prevent flu and allergies. Beets are known for their mood-enhancing and cancer-preventing properties. Strawberries, rich in vitamin C, are ideal for strengthening the immune system and have diuretic effects. Carrots, available in spring and early summer, are beneficial for dental health, constipation relief, and skin and hair protection. Pineapples, containing potassium, iodine, and vitamin C, support muscle activity, thyroid function, and weight loss. Spinach, abundant in spring, is especially good for pregnant women, aiding in bone formation and preventing anemia and cancer.
