Alejandro Rios is a journalist based in Miami, United States of America. Film and arts critic Alejandro Ríos is the founder and curator of the Cuban Cinema Series, an influential educational program launched in 1993 that has presented and fostered discussion around films related to Cuban themes and culture. He is also the programmer of Spotlight on Cuba at the Miami Film Festival and a member of the Ibero-American Authors Program at the Miami Book Fair, both produced under the auspices of Miami Dade College. Ríos has participated as a journalist, juror, and lecturer at numerous international film festivals in cities including New York City, Havana, Miami, Brazil, Canada, Seattle, and Kolkata. He was the anchor and producer of the Cuban cinema television program Pantalla de Azogue on TV Martí, later renamed Pantalla TVM, and also served as a cultural analyst for weekly programs on Radio Martí. His film criticism is also published through his platform, AlejandroRiosTV. Ríos is the author of the books La Mirada Indiscreta (Hypermedia) and Cubensis (Casa Vacía), both collections of his essays and cultural criticism. For 26 years, he also served as Hispanic Media Specialist in the Press Office of Miami Dade College.
