Man made harrowing call to police before two bodies were found at his home
An inquest heard that 71-year-old Anthony Buxton called emergency services after strangling his 69-year-old wife, Michelle, at their home in Camelford, Cornwall, before stabbing himself. Both were found dead by police and paramedics. Evidence indicated that Buxton had developed severe anxiety, paranoia and possible memory problems, believing an organised crime gang was targeting his family. Mental health services assessed him but referred him toward community support and talking therapies. The coroner concluded that Michelle died by unlawful killing and that Buxton took his own life, noting that neither relatives nor clinicians had believed she was at risk.
