Ipswich Town ended pre-season with a convincing 4-2 victory over Union Berlin in Germany. Jack Clarke, Emersonn, Dara O’Shea and Kasey McAteer scored for Ipswich after Union took an early lead and later reduced the deficit to 3-2. The match highlighted O’Shea’s possible role at right-back, Clarke’s versatility in the number-10 position, Jaden Philogene’s return from injury and strong performances from Sindre Walle Egeli and Sasa Lukic. Despite conceding two avoidable goals, Ipswich finished pre-season with four wins, one draw and two defeats and now turn their attention to the Premier League opener against Sunderland.

Ipswich Town defender Darnell Furlong described the club’s 2-1 pre-season win over Wycombe Wanderers as another step in the team’s preparations. Ipswich recovered from conceding first, with Cameron Humphreys scoring twice against his former club at Adams Park. Furlong praised Humphreys’s work ethic and said the squad benefited from gaining further match minutes and implementing its training-ground plans.

Ipswich Town are reportedly interested in signing Argentina international midfielder Exequiel Palacios from Bayer Leverkusen. Fabrizio Romano says Palacios has options to leave, with Ipswich and RB Leipzig interested, although no agreement is close. Ipswich are also pursuing midfielders Sasa Lukic and Florentino Luis and are confident of re-signing Julio Enciso from Strasbourg.

Ipswich Town came from behind to beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 in a pre-season match at Adams Park. Emre Tezgel gave Wycombe the lead, but Cameron Humphreys scored twice in the second half to secure Ipswich's first pre-season victory in front of supporters. Daizen Maeda made an energetic debut, while Issa Diop also appeared for the first time. The match suggested Ipswich's strongest lineup is taking shape, though midfield remains a concern and further defensive reinforcements may be needed before the Premier League season.

Sam Szmodics has rejoined Derby County from Ipswich Town on loan for the 2026/27 campaign, with an obligation for Derby to buy him next summer. The 30-year-old attacker previously spent the second half of the prior season at Derby, scoring three goals and providing one assist. Szmodics joined Ipswich from Blackburn Rovers for an initial £9 million in August 2024 but struggled for regular impact, scoring four Premier League goals and only once in the Championship before returning to Derby. He will reunite with manager John Eustace.
