Repair costs for repairing Bristol’s Vauxhall Bridge have increased from £2 million to £5.7 million after engineers found that 80% of the structure needed replacement. A full rebuild was considered but rejected due to an estimated £20–30 million price tag. The Grade II listed bridge, shut since October 2023, is scheduled to reopen early next year as part of a wider £16 million government‑funded restoration programme covering eight bridges in the city.
