Rival football supporters use Fans to 5k on runs to score points
Fans to 5k, an initiative that turns football rivalry into a fitness competition, held its first fun run in Lockleaze, North Bristol, with about 80 participants. The programme allows supporters to earn points for their football, rugby or cricket clubs through running, walking or other exercise, with participation capped at five miles to keep it inclusive. Founder Grant Rees said 840 supporters and community groups across the UK are now signed up. Participants Wendy Watson, 82, and Ray Watson, 77, highlighted the accessibility and health benefits of movement, while the initiative aims to use competitive team spirit to encourage more people to become active.
