Hainan Airlines flight HU753 from Beijing to Manchester made an emergency diversion to Krasnoyarsk International Airport in Siberia on 15 August 2026 because of a mechanical fault. The Airbus A330-300 landed safely, with no reported deaths, injuries or damage to the aircraft or airport infrastructure. Hainan Airlines said it would provide a replacement aircraft and passenger support for the onward journey. Counter Terrorism Policing London has reopened an investigation into an attempted burglary reported in Greater London in April 2025 as part of the continuing inquiry into former MP Ann Widdecombe's death. The original investigation found no arrests and was closed, but officers have identified a line of inquiry that may have been relevant and was not previously pursued. The force referred a staff member's conduct to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which is independently examining the alleged failure. Police have updated the victims and families and urged the public to avoid speculation.
