Ground stabilisation works at Dewar Avenue near completion
Ground stabilisation work on Dewar Avenue in Kincardine is nearing completion after six properties were demolished because of subsidence linked to old coal mines. Contractors injected grout and gravel into the mine workings, removed their equipment and are completing the site clean-up. Monitoring has found slow ongoing movement inside the fenced-off area but no abnormal movement beyond it. The Mining Remediation Authority will continue monitoring Dewar Avenue, the nearby community centre and surrounding areas until at least spring 2027, while discussions with Fife Council continue over repairs to the community centre, which has been closed since April 2025.
