Prognostic value of hematological parameters and metabolic parameters of PET/CT with [18F]FDG in head and neck cancer

09 Jul 2024  |  Dialnet
The study aims to determine the prognostic utility of neutrophil/lymphocyte (N/L) and platelet/lymphocyte (P/L) ratios, as well as quantitative PET/CT parameters with [18F]FDG, for overall survival (OS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Retrospective analysis of 66 patients revealed that metabolic parameters, except SUVmax, were predictive for all three survival metrics, while hematological parameters were predictive for OS and CSS. Total lesion glycolysis (TLG) was the only predictive factor in multivariate analysis. The study suggests that hematological and metabolic markers can help identify high-risk patients and tailor more aggressive treatments.
