The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to be sold for $12.5 billion (£9.25 billion) to venture capitalist Josh Kushner and former Disney CEO Bob Iger, subject to approval by the NBA Board of Governors. Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has filed a High Court defamation claim against Crystal Palace over a banner displayed at Selhurst Park depicting him holding a gun to Morgan Gibbs-White’s head and making unsubstantiated references to his business dealings. The Football Association investigated the incident and fined Palace £50,000, but Marinakis believes the penalty does not address the alleged global damage to his reputation. Leeds United are close to agreeing a deal with Manchester City to sign England goalkeeper James Trafford for at least £40 million plus add-ons, which would become the club’s record transfer and a record fee for an English goalkeeper. The move addresses Leeds’ need for a new first-choice goalkeeper following Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier’s departures and Lucas Perri’s difficult first season.
