A teenager in Hull raised funds through a 120‑mile run to install a memorial bench honoring her mother, who died by suicide. Created with the charity Legend on the Bench, the illuminated bench offers crisis‑support information and aims to encourage people to seek help. Family members and supporters, including former footballer Dean Windass, praised her efforts, highlighting the bench’s role in raising mental‑health awareness and offering hope to others.

Participants in Spencer Tunick’s 2016 Sea of Hull installation recall the event as liberating, transformative and deeply memorable. Commissioned by Ferens Art Gallery ahead of Hull’s City of Culture year, the project brought 3,200 nude volunteers painted blue to landmark locations across the city. Contributors describe feelings of community, exhilaration and lasting personal impact, while cultural institutions highlight the project’s enduring influence on local heritage and identity.
