Generation Z Takes to the Streets Worldwide

nd-aktuell (Neues Deutschland) 26. Okt. 2025 German

Right-wing movements are gaining momentum globally, aided by political narratives that shift responsibility onto marginalized groups, particularly migrants. German leaders are accused of reinforcing divisive rhetoric while undermining social systems such as healthcare and pensions. The article argues that current policies increase inequality, pit generations against one another, and serve corporate interests rather than the public good. In contrast, youth-led Gen Z protests around the world are challenging corruption, democratic deficits, social injustice, and harmful pension reforms, achieving notable political impact. The text calls for similar mobilization in Germany to address corruption, strengthen democracy, and advocate for a fairer future.

Before the Next Monsoon

Nepali Times 2. Mai 2025 English

Residents of Panauti’s Ward 12 fear the approaching monsoon after catastrophic September 2024 floods killed people, destroyed homes and businesses, and damaged infrastructure. The devastation was intensified by unchecked stone quarries and sand mining in the Rosi watershed, despite rules and a government recommendation to shut some operations; many sites have resumed work. Survivors describe receiving little or no compensation and struggling to rebuild or recover their livelihoods. Local officials say flood-control preparations are planned, but residents remain anxious and question whether mining operators or authorities will be held accountable.

Climate change hits Himalayan rice

Amit Machamasi 29. Juni 2024 English

Erratic monsoons, rising temperatures and new plant diseases are disrupting rice cultivation in Nepal’s Himalayan foothills, reducing yields and forcing farmers to shift planting schedules. Many farmers face declining water sources and economic hardship, prompting migration. Community initiatives in Kaski district, including seed banks and awareness efforts led by LI-BIRD, aim to preserve indigenous rice varieties and support climate‑resilient agriculture. Government measures such as minimum selling prices offer additional protection, but farmers seek broader technical and financial support to adapt to worsening climate impacts.

Highlights the loss of natural ambience, traditional farming spaces, and environmental quality, attributing the changes to rapid population growth and commercialization. Nepal in the new world order

Nepali Times 19. Apr. 2022 English

Global geopolitics is increasingly shaped by a struggle between liberal democracies and authoritarian powers, creating a volatile multipolar environment that pressures strategically located countries such as Nepal. Economic interdependence, climate instability, hypernationalism, and migration are amplifying global tensions. Examples from Laos and Bangladesh show how small states can leverage balanced diplomacy to advance economic interests despite competing pressures from China, the United States, and other major powers. Nepal faces similar challenges as it navigates international initiatives such as the MCC, BRI, and EU programs, but with strategic planning it can use its geographic position to promote economic development, stability, and peace.
