Two men reported missing in Preston were found dead inside a crashed Peugeot 106 concealed in undergrowth off the A584 near Newton with Clifton. Lancashire Police believe the bodies are those of William Hutchinson and Stuart Tallis, who were last seen separately on 24 June. Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage from around 5:30am on that date, while investigators work to determine the circumstances of the crash.

Blackpool will illuminate its tower in blue on July 27 as a tribute requested by the birth mother of murdered toddler Preston Davey. A vigil is also being planned nearly three years after the child’s death, which followed months of severe abuse by his adoptive father, Jamie Varley, who received a whole-life sentence, while John McGowan-Fazakerley received 25 years for related offences. The tribute coincides with news that the pair’s former home has been listed for auction with disclosures regarding Varley’s conviction.
