Boy, nine, killed by 'doting but distressed' mother in Cornwall
A Cornwall inquest concluded that nine-year-old Hudson Paterson was unlawfully killed by his mother, Tasmin Paterson, who then died by suicide in September 2024. Coroner Andrew Cox said police evidence made it more likely than not that Tasmin killed Hudson before taking her own life, while acknowledging an alternative possibility involving an undiagnosed natural illness. Evidence described Tasmin as distressed by relationship, health and financial problems, while Hudson's father said his son should be remembered with love and dignity.
