Passenger photos show terrifying moment inside train after it derailed with 20 injured
A Southern train travelling from London Victoria to Eastbourne derailed near Lewes, East Sussex, with three carriages overturning and around 150 passengers evacuated. Twenty people were taken or made their own way to hospital, including two with severe injuries, while passengers described climbing out of the overturned carriages. Emergency services, including air ambulances, mounted a major multi-agency response, and rail authorities launched an investigation into the cause. Significant disruption was expected while the lines through Lewes remained closed.
