Man's drunken, foul-mouthed tirade saw flight cancelled and holidays 'ruined'
Jason Mulhern, 57, was sentenced after drunkenly abusing Jet2 cabin crew and calling them Nazis during a 2024 flight from Manchester to Dalaman. The captain had him and his wife removed, but the resulting delay caused the flight to be cancelled because of safe flying-hour restrictions, disrupting around 300 departing passengers and another 300 passengers in Turkey. Mulhern received an eight-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months, 300 hours of unpaid work, alcohol-monitoring and rehabilitation requirements, and £500 in costs. Jet2 is pursuing £44,710 in compensation and has banned him for life.

Teen killer jailed for life after young dad stabbed to death in 'revenge' attack
A teenager was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of 26-year-old Vernard Murray, while two others received custodial sentences for manslaughter following a planned revenge attack in Cheetham Hill. CCTV and evidence showed the group using a BMW to pursue and crash Murray’s car before Williams fatally stabbed him. The attackers fled, arranged for the BMW to be burned and attempted to conceal their involvement. Victim impact statements from Murray’s family described profound grief. The judge rejected defence claims of limited intent, and police said the case demonstrated their commitment to addressing serious violent crime.
