A UK Government initiative will allow children aged five to 15 to travel for free on participating bus services across England throughout August, reducing family travel costs during the school holidays. The programme is part of the Great British Summer Savings campaign, which also offers discounts on food, entertainment and attractions. Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander highlighted the measure as support for households facing cost‑of‑living pressures, while ministers noted it complements ongoing investment in public transport. The adult £3 bus fare cap will remain in place until March 2027.
