TikTok camper's rant after being told to put out Snowdonia fire
TikToker Jamie Greenall criticized Cefn Coed campsite owner Adrian Wright after being asked to extinguish a campfire during a drought-related ban on open fires in Gwynedd. Wright defended the policy, citing recent wildfires, dry conditions, risks to campers and wildlife, and the campsite’s collection of rare animals. Most campers and TikTok users supported the ban, which is expected to remain in place until sustained heavy rain arrives.

Eight bikers fined £960 after stopping for ice creams at Snowdonia lake
Eight motorcyclists from Devon face two £60 penalty notices each after stopping twice for ice creams at Llyn Tegid in Bala and missing newly introduced motorcycle parking charges enforced by ANPR cameras. The pilot scheme, introduced to curb overnight camping, unpaid parking and disorder linked to overtourism, has also angered Bala residents, who say the limited free off-peak hour does not provide meaningful access to their local lake. A petition calling for free 24-hour access has gathered more than 500 signatures. Eryri National Park Authority says the pilot will run through the October half-term and will be reviewed using enforcement data and community feedback.

North Wales wildfire warning issued as 'idiots' put lives at risk
North Wales Police warned that fires lit in outdoor areas could rapidly become destructive wildfires after incidents at Wepre Park in Flintshire, Penrhos Coastal Park and Newborough Forest on Anglesey. Rangers, police and firefighters extinguished the fires before they spread, while Natural Resources Wales increased patrols amid concerns about wild camping, barbecues and anti-social behaviour. Authorities urged the public to report fires or suspicious activity and call 999 where there is an immediate risk to life or property.

Couple drove three hours to North Wales hotel and wondered if they had right place
A family’s anniversary trip to the Wrexham Llyndir Hall Hotel became a disappointing experience after arriving to find poor maintenance, closed facilities and unresolved issues despite assurances from operator OYO Rooms that problems had been fixed. Guests reported stained carpets, broken fixtures, closed amenities and misleading parking information. The hotel, recently acquired and undergoing refurbishment, has continued to receive negative reviews, prompting Trading Standards involvement. Citizens Advice recommended the family seek a refund while OYO maintains that confirmed bookings are being honoured and issues are temporary.

Terrifying rip tides wash children away at UK resort as rescuers plunge into sea
Several children were rescued from dangerous rip currents at Tywyn beach in Gwynedd, prompting renewed calls for lifeguards and clearer safety signage. Local residents and rescuers described multiple incidents in which quick action prevented potential drownings. Past tragedies and previous campaigns for lifeguard provision were highlighted, along with an RNLI study noting hazards linked to a nearby breakwater. Cyngor Gwynedd defended its approach of deploying beach wardens rather than lifeguards, citing risk assessments and extensive coastline responsibilities. The RNLI reiterated guidance on identifying and escaping rip currents as residents called for improved warnings to prevent further accidents.
