Eight motorcyclists from Devon are receiving two £60 penalty notices each after stopping twice for ice creams at Llyn Tegid in Bala, where new parking charges and ANPR cameras were introduced. Residents and other visitors say signage was unclear and are challenging the fines, while a petition demanding free access to the lake’s car parks has gathered more than 500 signatures. Eryri National Park Authority says the pilot scheme is intended to prevent overnight camping, improve parking compliance and support site maintenance, and will be reviewed after the October half-term.
