IMoS: Intent-Driven Full-Body Motion Synthesis for Human-Object Interactions

18 Aug 2024  |  Wiley Online Library
IMoS is a novel framework designed to synthesize diverse, full-body motion sequences of human-object interactions based on textual instructions. It leverages a CLIP encoder for intent encoding and employs separate Conditional Variational Autoregressors for arm and body movements to ensure precise and diverse motion synthesis. The model is trained and evaluated on the GRAB dataset, demonstrating significant improvements over existing methods in terms of mean per-joint position error, average variance error, Fréchet Inception distance, recognition accuracy, diversity, and multimodality. The framework also includes an optimization routine for estimating 6-DoF object positions relative to hand positions, enhancing the plausibility of synthesized motions. Future work aims to extend the model to dynamic grasps and more precise motion generation based on descriptive sentence embeddings.
