The contest aims to strengthen Ibama's workforce for better participation in environmental oversight and protection. Additionally, Esther Dweck, the Minister of Management and Public Service Innovation, announced that more federal contests would be authorized, with the Ministry of Science and Technology Innovation already approved for 814 analyst, technologist, and researcher positions.

The request is based on Official Letter No. 64/2023 sent to the Directorate of Planning, Administration, and Logistics (Diplan) of the agency.
