Former West Midlands Police officer PC Katie Bowie was found to have committed gross misconduct after secretly accessing confidential police systems between December 2022 and December 2024. She searched for information about people connected to her, including names, addresses, incidents, custody photographs and contact details, without authorization or a legitimate policing purpose. The misconduct panel found that she breached standards relating to honesty and integrity, confidentiality, and discreditable conduct. Bowie did not attend the hearing or have representation; had she still been employed, she would have faced dismissal. There was no evidence that she shared the information with others.
