£90 Million to Be Invested in New Supertram Fleet in South Yorkshire
South Yorkshire is set to receive a new £90 million Supertram fleet as the current vehicles near the end of their operational life after more than 30 years. The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority has launched a public consultation on designs prioritising accessibility, passenger comfort, safety, air conditioning and space for bikes, wheelchairs and pushchairs. The fleet forms part of the £1.5 billion South Yorkshire People’s Network, which aims to integrate buses, trams, trains and cycling schemes. Feedback collected before September 18 will inform the plans ahead of manufacturers being invited to bid.
