The University of Essex has introduced a Clearing Fast Track system allowing applicants to complete most of their applications before A-level results day, with rapid reviews, offers, phone support and live chat. Anglia Ruskin University is preparing more than 200 staff across campuses in Chelmsford, Cambridge and Peterborough, offering support, campus tours and access to more than 190 Clearing courses. Clearing is available from July to October for late applicants seeking courses with remaining places.

A four-event Future of Essex series organised by the Essex Community Foundation and NHS Essex Integrated Care Board brought together voluntary organisations, health bodies, local authorities and other partners in Harwich, Harlow, Thurrock and Rochford. Discussions highlighted the community sector’s local expertise, the need to involve it earlier in planning and decision-making, and the importance of shifting from crisis response to prevention. Participants called for flexible, sustained funding and stronger cross-sector partnerships, with a joint vision for civil society in Greater Essex produced to help turn the proposals into action.
