Merthyr Tydfil Council outlines plans to use £1.5 million from the UK Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund on projects including playground improvements, public art, and upgrades to key community buildings and assets. Earlier allocations were adjusted after securing additional funding, freeing £750,000 for wider regeneration efforts across the town centre and northern wards. The money must be spent by March 2027 and is intended to support community spaces, public spaces, and high streets in areas most in need.

Essential repairs and upgrades are underway at Cyfarthfa Castle and its surrounding park, including roof and drainage works aimed at protecting the historic structure and ensuring its long‑term resilience. The museum remains open and is hosting a contemporary painting exhibition while improvements to visitor facilities and park amenities continue. Funding is being provided by Merthyr Tydfil Council, the Welsh Government, Cadw and The Cyfarthfa Foundation, with officials emphasizing the importance of ongoing investment and future development opportunities.
