House of the Dragon 3 work was surreal, says Welsh blacksmith
A Welsh blacksmith and armourer, Aaron Houghton, describes his work on House of the Dragon series two and three as a surreal and exciting experience, involving repairing weapons, preparing props and ensuring actors appeared authentic on set. Filming across multiple Welsh locations followed support from Creative Wales. Houghton, who teaches blacksmithing and studies historical martial arts, worked with various types of swords and created daggers for the third series. His career developed from early interest in metalwork to ongoing involvement in major productions such as Excalibur.
