University of Sheffield nursing student Jess Beaumont joined more than 200 British and 130 Dutch officer cadets for Exercise Fallowlands Resolve in the Netherlands. The two-week exercise included live firing, urban operations, trench warfare, woodland clearance, casualty evacuation and platoon attacks, giving Beaumont an opportunity to lead a section and develop decision-making and communication skills. She says the experience will benefit her nursing career, while Lt Col Simon Pollitt praised the cadets' teamwork, resilience and leadership development. Beaumont is considering the Army Reserve, the Regular Army or a civilian career after graduation.

Friends of Ulley Country Park has marked its 20th anniversary with a weekend of events, including musical performances, a beetle drive and the installation of a commemorative statue. The volunteer group has supported the park through litter picking, bulb planting, meadow creation and fundraising, bringing in more than £140,000, including £84,000 in grants. Its work has become increasingly important as Rotherham Council’s park ranger resources have declined. Despite a slight fall in membership since the Covid pandemic, the group still has more than 200 members and plans to continue its activities, with a new visitor centre potentially funded by the council.
