About Askandar
Askandar Jafari is a Kurdish journalist, media professional, and activist based in Halle (Saale), Germany. He was born in 1990 in the city of Urmia and has been active in the media sector since 2006, when he was 16 years old. His work includes both volunteer and professional roles across a wide range of media organizations.
In Kurdistan, he wrote for newspapers and magazines such as Sedaye Ashna, Nedaye Jamee, Sirwe, Nishtiman, and Sirwan, as well as for several news agencies.
Since 2012, he has been living in exile. During this time, he worked for several Kurdish television channels, including Gali Kurdistan TV and TISHK TV. Since 2016, he has been based in Germany. Since 2018, he has been working with Radio Corax, where he served as a member of the coordination team from 2021 to 2024. He also coordinated the multilingual programming department at Common Voices Radio.
Currently, he produces and hosts a weekly program on Kurdistan for the Kurdish satellite television channel Kurd Channel. Since January 2026, he has also been producing the program Forbidden Word (Verbotenes Wort) for NRWision, which likewise focuses on Kurdistan.
