About Aung
Aung Khant Si Thu is a multimedia journalist, news producer, researcher and documentary filmmaker based in Bangkok, covering Southeast Asia and the broader region. His reporting focuses on conflict, human rights, and organized crime, with a particular emphasis on scam syndicates, military violence, and underreported communities.

He has worked as a producer, cinematographer, writer, researcher and photographer for international media outlets including National Geographic, Al Jazeera English, Al Jazeera Documentary, Sky News, ABC, Der Spiegel, NZZ, Le Figaro, and SRF. 

In recent years, Aung has extensively reported on online scam operations and human trafficking networks in the region. He served as lead researcher for a 2025 report published by the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC), investigating the rise of scam compounds across Southeast Asia.
