Overgrown vegetation is obscuring warning signs on a dangerous double bend on Mereside Road in Knutsford. Residents say a recent high-speed Audi Q3 crash, the fifth serious collision near three neighboring properties in two years, nearly injured or killed pedestrians and shows that action is needed. Vanessa Gardee Vega, a 53-year-old Mexican woman, was arrested in Middlewich on suspicion of human trafficking and child neglect connected to an ongoing Cheshire Police investigation into allegations involving the Crewe-based Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light. She was released on conditional bail and given a six-month Slavery and Trafficking Risk Order imposing restrictions including a ban on entering Crewe, contact with the alleged victim, unsupervised contact with children, and possession of others’ identity or payment documents. Fourteen suspects have been arrested in the wider investigation, which also concerns alleged serious sexual offences, forced marriage, modern slavery and child welfare; police stressed that the inquiry is focused on reported offences rather than the religion itself.
