'Neglectful' couple sentenced after baby ingested cocaine
Kevin Fields and Ella Jones were sentenced at Chester Crown Court after admitting that their neglect allowed a 12-week-old baby in their care to ingest cocaine. The baby was found unresponsive and tested positive for cocaine after being taken to Leighton Hospital. Fields received two years in prison, while Jones received a two-year sentence suspended for two years, along with rehabilitation, mental-health treatment and unpaid-work requirements. The judge said their drug use and failure to protect the child amounted to wilful neglect.
