Moscow warns the United States and Turkey against transferring weapons to Ukraine
Russia has warned the United States and Turkey not to proceed with a planned transfer of roughly $256 million in military equipment to Ukraine, saying the move could harm bilateral relations and increase casualties and destruction. The proposed package reportedly includes M270 multiple-launch rocket systems, more than 2,500 unguided cluster munitions, 47,000 cluster artillery shells and 70 ATACMS missiles, with Turkish and US-based companies expected to assist delivery. Washington says the transfer is consistent with its security-assistance objectives. Human Rights Watch has urged the US Congress to block the deal, arguing that the cluster munitions are old, inaccurate and likely to cause serious civilian harm.

Russian analysts on Zelenskyy's visit and their attitude toward Vučić
Russian state television programs offered conflicting interpretations of Volodymyr Zelenskyy's August visit to Serbia. Some commentators accused Aleksandar Vučić of betraying Serbia's traditionally pro-Russian electorate, while others portrayed him as a realist constrained by Serbia's economic dependence on the European Union and its geographic position within the EU and NATO orbit. The programs also repeated disputed claims that Serbian-made ammunition had reached Ukraine through third countries, despite Belgrade's denial of direct arms deliveries. At the same time, Russian broadcasters emphasized pro-Russian protests in Belgrade and portrayed Serbian public opinion as broadly sympathetic to Moscow. They strongly condemned a question by German journalist Michael Martens about European assistance enabling Ukraine to kill Russian soldiers, with Russian officials and presenters framing it as evidence of Western hostility.

Iran War: What is known about the Shia militias in Iraq?
Iraq occupies an unusual position in the Iran war because both Iranian and US-backed forces have carried out attacks there. US and Saudi strikes reportedly killed at least 20 members of the Iran-aligned Popular Mobilization Forces and injured 32 others. The PMF is an umbrella body formed in 2014 after ISIS captured Mosul, incorporating groups including the Badr Organization, Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, the Peace Brigades and Hezbollah Brigades. Another umbrella group, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, has claimed numerous drone attacks on US and Israeli-linked targets in Iraq, Syria and the Golan Heights. Since taking office, Prime Minister Ali Zeydi has sought to strengthen central authority by persuading militias to disarm or join the army, police or counterterrorism forces. The Peace Brigades, Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, Imam Ali Brigades and Badr Organization are reportedly receptive, while Hezbollah Brigades, Sayyid al-Shuhada Brigades and several other powerful groups have rejected disarmament.

Why is the Russian press accusing Turkey of trying to control the Black Sea?
Russian commentators accuse Turkey of seeking influence over the Black Sea following Hakan Fidan’s remarks that Ankara agreed to lead the maritime component of potential security guarantees for Ukraine. While Russian officials responded diplomatically, pro-Kremlin analysts portrayed Turkey’s role as an attempt to assert control and expand military presence. Separately, Russia’s ban on certain Turkish fruit imports triggered further speculation that trade measures reflect political tensions. Russian critics argued that institutional actions increasingly serve political directives, highlighting deteriorating trust between Moscow and Ankara amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Uzbekistan: Why did the beer festival spark so much controversy?
A large beer festival held in central Tashkent triggered widespread public debate in a predominantly Muslim society, drawing criticism from commentators, activists and religious figures who argued it violated cultural values and alcohol‑related laws. Supporters viewed it as a sign of social openness and modernization. Disputes emerged over alleged legal violations, youth participation and the event’s perceived alignment with government attitudes toward religion. The controversy intensified scrutiny of presidential adviser Ruslanbek Davletov and exposed broader divisions in Uzbekistan over identity, secularism and societal norms.

Is Syria preparing to clash with Hezbollah in Lebanon?
Reports of Syrian military buildup near the Lebanese border have fueled speculation of a potential confrontation with Hezbollah, amplified by repeated remarks from U.S. President Donald Trump suggesting Syria could take action where Israel has not succeeded. Syrian officials, including transitional president Ahmed Shara, deny any intent to intervene militarily in Lebanon, describing the movements as routine deployments. Lebanese leaders welcomed these assurances, while Hezbollah’s Naim Kasim characterized the intervention rumors as part of a U.S.-Israeli plan to eliminate the group. Observers from SOHR report continued military activity along the border, though similar claims have been made for months.
