Treasure hunters claim King Charles I's £1.1bn wreck is found
Burntisland Heritage Trust claims it has located the wreck of the Blessing of Burntisland, a baggage ferry that sank off Fife during a storm in 1633 while carrying belongings associated with King Charles I's Scottish coronation. The cargo reportedly included a 280-piece silver dining service commissioned by Henry VIII and could be worth more than £1.1 billion today. The discovery remains subject to verification by the UK Government's Receiver of Wreck, with archaeological investigation and possible recovery work expected to follow.
