Buddy may live with another dog after successful introductions, but cannot live with cats or small animals and is best suited to a household with children aged 14 or older.

The BBC was reportedly considering ending BBC Radio Norfolk’s dedicated commentary and analysis of Norwich City away matches as part of efforts to reduce costs, staff travel and duplication across its local radio network. The proposed change would leave away coverage to the home team’s local BBC station, prompting concern among Norwich supporters who value the local perspective provided by commentators including Chris Goreham and Rob Butler. The BBC subsequently clarified that home and away commentary, analysis and coverage will continue on BBC Radio Norfolk, while it reviews ways to showcase more local commentary teams across the corporation.

Carrow Road River Bridge in Norwich will close to vehicles overnight from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. between August 17 and August 22 for essential repairs costing about £15,000. Norfolk County Council and contractors will carry out the work following a routine inspection. Pedestrian access will remain available, while signed diversions will be provided. The work is weather-dependent and may be postponed to September 21–26 if conditions prevent it.

Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads has been named one of the UK’s best boating holiday destinations for beginners. Anglian Water is urging people in Norwich and surrounding areas to use water only for essential purposes as exceptionally low flows in the River Wensum threaten local supplies and ecosystems. Wetherspoon has banned Meta smart glasses from all 800 of its pubs, including venues across Norfolk, because their built-in cameras, microphones and speakers could enable customers or employees to be recorded without consent. The pub chain said filming people without permission violates its general pub policy and compared the restriction to its efforts to prevent audible video playback in its venues.

A driver was taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital after a car crashed into traffic lights on the A140 at Harford Bridge in Norwich at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Police treated the incident as a single-vehicle collision, and the driver was not believed to have suffered serious injuries. No arrests were made.

Three pedestrians were injured when a BMW struck them on Rose Lane in Norwich at about 4:25 a.m. on Sunday and the driver fled. A man suffered a fractured leg and two women sustained cuts. Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and drug driving, and a 25-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender; both were later released on bail. Norfolk Police referred the matter to its Professional Standards Department and the Independent Office for Police Conduct because of previous contact with both parties, while the investigation continues.

Norwich City players took part in a team-building exercise at the Lensbury Resort in southwest London, constructing makeshift rafts from barrels and wooden beams. Many of the rafts failed, sending players into the Thames, while Paris Maghoma appeared wary of boarding one and Harry Darling was photographed in the water. The exercise followed Norwich’s 2–0 preseason win over Fulham as the club prepared for its campaign and hoped to challenge for promotion back to the Premier League.

Andy King, a 60-year-old father from Long Stratton, spent nearly £17,000 buying and transforming a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro 6.2 V8 SS into a replica of Disney Pixar’s Lightning McQueen. The project began as a joke after a night out and involved a £7,000 wrap, stickers, decorative details and McQueen’s eyes. After debuting at a school fete, the car attracted requests for proms, birthdays and weddings, with interest extending to Wales. King plans to continue developing the vehicle.

The UK Health Security Agency has issued a yellow heat health warning for Norfolk and the wider East of England from Friday morning until Sunday morning as temperatures are forecast to reach up to 30°C. Several Norfolk locations, including Thetford, Norwich, Attleborough, Great Yarmouth and Sheringham, are expected to experience high temperatures, with further warm weather forecast for the following week.

The former video game retailer Game, once operating hundreds of UK stores including several in Norwich, entered administration with debts of £15.8 million. Administrators from KR8 Advisory reported that £12 million is expected to be lost by unsecured creditors. Economic pressures and a shift toward digital game sales contributed to the chain’s second collapse after a previous administration in 2011.
