Lowestoft man with indecent child images spared jail
Kevin Johnson, 63, of Lowestoft, received a two-year-and-eight-month prison sentence suspended for two years after pleading guilty to six offences involving the making and distribution of more than 2,000 indecent images and videos of children. He must complete a rehabilitation order, remain on the sex offenders register for life and comply with a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The investigation by Suffolk Constabulary’s Internet Child Abuse Investigation Team began after intelligence about his online communications; devices seized from his home contained large quantities of Category A, B and C material.

Plane pulls out of Old Buckenham Airshow due to crosswind
The Sally B, the last remaining B-17 bomber in Europe, will not perform at the Old Buckenham Airshow because strong crosswinds at Duxford made flying unsafe. Organizers cited safety as the reason for cancelling the aircraft’s planned display.

Africa Alive Welcomes Arrival of Two Newborn Animals
Africa Alive wildlife park in Lowestoft has welcomed two red river hoglets born to their mother, Rebecca, during the early hours of a Saturday earlier in the month. Both hoglets are reportedly thriving and will remain off public display for a few more days before visitors can see them in the coming weeks.

80-Hectare Fire Rages Through Field in East Bergholt
An 80-hectare fire spread through cut straw, trees and hedgerows near Putticks Lane in East Bergholt, Suffolk. Eighteen fire appliances from across the county attended, while roads were closed and residents were advised to keep windows and doors shut. Crews brought the flames under control after nearly three hours, dampened down the area, and were stood down at 10:42pm.

Investigation of police car crash with motorhome on A143 Diss
Police in Norfolk are continuing to investigate a collision on the A143 at Scole in which a Suffolk police car and a motorhome crashed, closing the road for more than four hours on June 30. No serious injuries were reported, and Norfolk Constabulary is leading the inquiry because the incident occurred within its jurisdiction.
