Lorry Stopped in Dereham Linked to Fatal Northampton Crash
Police sealed off a lorry at the Morrisons petrol station in Dereham after linking it to a fatal collision in Northampton. A female pedestrian fell from a bridge over the A45 at about 1:50am and was struck by several vehicles, including the lorry, dying at the scene. Northamptonshire Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious but stressed the need for a thorough investigation. The lorry driver was not arrested.

How to See the Red Arrows Over Norfolk as They Jet to Cromer
The Red Arrows are scheduled to fly over Norfolk on their way from RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire to Cromer Carnival. Their route is expected to pass over Wisbech, King's Lynn, Fakenham, Aylsham, Reepham and North Walsham before reaching Cromer at around 12:30 p.m. The team's appearance had been uncertain after bad weather stranded crews in Canada, but they returned home and were cleared to perform.

Teen fighting for his life after A47 crash at Little Fransham
A teenage boy was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a black Nissan Elgrand on the A47 at Little Fransham at 8:43 a.m. on Monday. The road was closed for several hours and reopened shortly after 4 p.m. Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

5 public notices to be aware of across Norfolk this week
Five Norfolk public notices cover plans to convert a former Santander branch in North Walsham into three flats, a £150 million North Quay regeneration in Great Yarmouth, the conversion of a Norwich hotel into an adult care home, a proposed McDonald's drive-through near Heacham, and extended opening hours for three JD Wetherspoon pubs in Norwich. The North Quay project includes retail, hospitality, leisure and residential elements and is expected to create more than 1,200 jobs, while the Heacham restaurant faces likely refusal because of concerns about nearby listed heritage sites.

Two fly-tips in one day found in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
Two fly-tipping incidents were reported in Great Yarmouth near Broadland Rugby Club and the Herbert Barnes car park, where bags of rubbish and other materials were left strewn. Great Yarmouth Borough Council is appealing for information and provided a contact number and email address. The maximum fine is currently £1,000 and is expected to increase to £5,000.

Wildfire warning sent out after weeks of fires in Norfolk
The UK government issued a national mobile-phone alert warning of a very high wildfire risk and urging residents, visitors and landowners to avoid activities such as barbecues, firepits, garden burning and fireworks. The warning followed weeks of fires in Norfolk and a major incident declaration by Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service. A severe blaze at Mousehold Heath in Norwich, described as the worst fire there in decades, left the city-centre natural area charred and required crews to dampen down the site for hours.

Police looking for missing man last seen on Holkham Beach
David Hine, 28, was reported missing after being last seen at about 4:15 p.m. on Friday on Holkham Beach, walking toward Burnham. Norfolk Police later confirmed that he had been found safe and well and thanked the media and public for their assistance.

More than 20 arrests made following Thetford disorder
Two further arrests brought the total connected to recent disorder in Thetford to 21. A man in his 50s and a teenage boy were detained on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences, with the teenager also suspected of conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary; both were released on bail. The arrests follow unrest linked to reports that asylum seekers were being housed at addresses in the town, during which police officers were reportedly attacked and an Eastern Daily Press journalist was assaulted. Norfolk Constabulary also confirmed the arrest of a man in his 60s on suspicion of assisting an offender and inciting racial hatred.

Older dog at Dogs Trust Snetterton needs loving new home
Dillan, an 11-year-old timid dog staying with Dogs Trust in Snetterton, Norfolk, is seeking a patient and understanding permanent home. He needs a secure private garden, a specific diet and ongoing medication for age-related aches, and could live with a calm similarly sized dog or an older cat. Drivers faced heavy delays near Clenchwarton after a fire broke out near the A17, with the blaze visible from the A47. Three fire engines and a tactical response vehicle attended the incident, and the traffic delays later cleared.

Person suffers head injuries in fall at Old Hunstanton
A person suffered head injuries after falling onto rocks at Old Hunstanton on Sunday afternoon. Coastguard team members searched the beach and car park before locating the casualty in a family car, where they directed an ambulance so paramedics could carry out an assessment.

A bathtub was dumped beside Mill Lane in Ormsby near Great Yarmouth on August 3. Great Yarmouth Borough Council is investigating and has asked anyone with information about its origin or the person responsible to come forward. The maximum fine for fly-tipping is currently £1,000 and is due to increase to £5,000 in September.

Hemsby fireworks cancelled this evening over dry conditions
A fireworks display at Hemsby seafront was cancelled after an onsite risk assessment found that extreme dry conditions and the area’s sand dunes made the event unsafe. The decision followed several nearby fires, including incidents on Britannia Pier and in Scratby. A Great Yarmouth fireworks event is still expected to proceed the following day.

Family pay tribute to Norfolk man killed in Wisbech crash
Grant Pattenden, 29, from Downham Market, died after his motorbike left the B1166 near Wisbech and entered a ditch. He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital but died from his injuries the following day. His family remembered him as a polite, caring and loyal son, brother, uncle, boyfriend and friend who enjoyed new experiences and will be deeply missed.

Chief Constable of Norfolk Police Speaks Out on Thetford
Norfolk Constabulary Chief Constable Paul Sanford defended his officers’ conduct during protests in Thetford, rejecting claims that police were too aggressive. Travellers Leave Emerald Park in Gorleston, Norfolk
A group of travellers left Emerald Park in Gorleston after Great Yarmouth Borough Council issued eviction notices and began court proceedings over an unauthorised encampment. The group had arrived the previous Thursday and reportedly doubled in size over the weekend. Although a councillor said locals experienced no problems, the council had to carry out a substantial cleanup before reopening the council-owned park and its new play area.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor 'Chased' on Norfolk Estate
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor told a court that Alex Jenkinson, who was allegedly wearing a balaclava, chased his vehicle on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. Jenkinson denies a public order offence involving the former Duke of York and a separate charge involving Stephen Terry, while pleading guilty to failing to provide a blood specimen. Suffolk Police is seeking a Stalking Protection Order based partly on evidence from Mountbatten-Windsor and searches found on Jenkinson's phone. Jenkinson is on bail with extensive restrictions, and Mountbatten-Windsor is expected to give evidence by video at the criminal trial scheduled for December 21.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council continues traveller battle
Great Yarmouth Borough Council is seeking to evict a traveller encampment at Emerald Park in Gorleston after the number of caravans doubled over the weekend. Section 77 notices have been served on all vehicles, and the council expects a court hearing on Thursday because of limited legal-court availability. The council is working with Norfolk Police and said there have been no reports of crime or antisocial behaviour linked to the encampment.

Police officer 'struck with knife' in Great Yarmouth
A man, Darren Mahoney, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife after allegedly striking a police officer with a knife during an arrest on Great Yarmouth seafront. The blade hit the officer’s body armour, leaving him uninjured. Mahoney appeared by video link at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody, with a hearing scheduled at Norwich Crown Court. Deputy Chief Constable Dave Marshall condemned the incident and broader assaults on Norfolk officers, saying violence should never be treated as part of the job.

Abnormal load to crawl through Norfolk this Sunday

Three men who stole a car in Dereham have been jailed
Kasey Kitchener, Harry Thorpe and Nathan Topple were jailed after a vulnerable man was assaulted in his Dereham home and his cash, car keys and vehicle were stolen. Kitchener and Thorpe entered through an open window and attacked the victim, while Topple joined them in taking the car. Police recovered the vehicle within an hour. Kitchener received four years, Thorpe four years and six months, and Topple two months, with each also receiving a driving disqualification.
