In 2022, the employment rate for women aged 15 and over was 30.4%, while it was 65.0% for men. The labor force participation rate was 51.4% overall, with 71.4% for men and 35.1% for women. Women's employment rates are less than half that of men's, and this disparity is even greater in politics. The AK Party has 54 female MPs out of 285, the CHP has 16 out of 134, the HDP has 22 out of 56, the MHP has 4 out of 48, and the İYİ Party has 2 out of 37. Since 1980, no significant increase in the number of female ministers has been observed, with a maximum of 2 serving in cabinets and the consistent assignment of women to the Ministry of Family and Social Policies. In the years following 2004, there were instances with no female council members, with only one or two women securing seats in recent years.

A study by the Istanbul Planning Agency found that 87% of non-working women in Istanbul are married and 70% receive an allowance from their spouses for their needs. These women typically do not venture far from home, with over half having never visited the other side of Istanbul. The study also noted a decrease in early marriages among young women, an increase in education levels, and that only 32% of housewives were born in Istanbul. One in five married before the age of 18. Many face the burden of childcare alone due to living in nuclear families. Regarding work experience, 50% of housewives have never had paid employment, and many left work after marriage or childbirth. Older women over 60 have less economic dependence due to social benefits like widow's pensions. Social security is generally lacking, with higher rates of uninsured among divorced women. Housewives disproportionately handle domestic responsibilities, with 71% taking care of children and only 13% reporting that their spouses help. The involvement in childcare and housework decreases with higher household welfare. Additionally, when there is someone in need of care in the household, 66% of housewives take on the responsibility alone.

According to TÜİK, inflation in March was 50.51% compared to the same month last year, with a 12-month average of 70.20%. TÜİK has not published the item basket and average prices since April 2022, but it's possible to determine the rate of increase for selected goods and services based on the consumer price index main groups. The cost of products and services consumed during Ramadan has increased significantly, with transportation services up by 41% in the last year. The average cost of traditional Ramadan treats, based on prices from Migros, Şok, and Karaköy Güllüoğlu, is approximately 1,252 TL.
