About Beritan
Beritan Canözer is a journalist. I began my career in journalism in 2013 in Diyarbakır, Türkiye. My first newsroom was JINHA, the world’s first women-led news agency. There, I reported primarily on issues concerning women, children, animal rights, and the environment. Throughout my work, I sought to amplify the voices of marginalized communities and those whose rights were denied or overlooked.

I later continued my career with Gazete Şujin and JINNEWS. I have now been working as a professional journalist for over 13 years.

As a result of the legal challenges I faced in Türkiye due to my commitment to democratic values and human rights advocacy, I was forced to leave the country. I have been living in Belgium for some time and am eager to continue my journalism career here.

Over the years, I have produced investigative reports, in-depth analyses, interviews, and field reporting on a wide range of issues. In Türkiye, I conducted extensive investigative reporting on prostitution networks and drug trafficking organizations. I also worked as a war correspondent during the Battle of Kobani in 2014–2015 and covered the urban conflict in southeastern Türkiye in 2015, gaining substantial experience in conflict reporting.

In addition to my reporting, I have worked as a photojournalist. I am proficient in both photography and video production techniques, and I believe I have a strong visual eye for storytelling.
