Masked gunmen tell British tourists to 'stay at home' in chilling threat
The Corsican separatist group FLNC-UC has warned people relocating to Corsica or buying second homes to stay away, saying they should not feel safe and accusing them of contributing to settlement-driven colonisation. The group issued the threat in a video featuring masked, armed members and rejected proposed French legislation that would recognise Corsica as a distinct historical, linguistic and cultural community while granting its assembly greater powers. French anti-terrorism prosecutors have opened a preliminary investigation into suspected conspiracy to commit terrorist acts and weapons offenses. The warning comes amid the group’s history of attacks, including 45 explosions in 2023 that mainly targeted holiday homes and an abandoned tax office.

Brits heading to Spain face new rule that could leave tourists facing eye-watering fines
Spain is preparing legislation that would ban smoking and vaping across beaches, outdoor hospitality areas, sports venues, national parks and other public spaces, with additional smoke‑free buffer zones around key facilities. Health Minister Monica García said the measures aim to protect non‑smokers and curb rising use of alternative nicotine products. The bill would also prohibit under‑18s from smoking or vaping and impose fines starting at €200 for minor violations, increasing up to €600,000 for severe breaches. The draft law requires parliamentary approval, after which it would take effect 20 days post‑publication, with a two‑month period for businesses to update signage.
