That’s the Fleadh done and dusted for another year
The Belfast Fleadh is portrayed as a highly successful celebration of Irish traditional music that attracted visitors from across Ireland and beyond, while also demonstrating the city’s cultural energy and resilience. The commentary praises the Newtownards Comhaltas branch, Belfast City Council, organizers and TG4, which provided extensive bilingual coverage. It argues that the Fleadh should be understood alongside Belfast’s other cultural festivals rather than through narrow nationalist, unionist or cross-community political narratives. The piece calls for greater coordination among the city’s diverse events, including traditional Orange cultural celebrations, and suggests that Enniskillen could host an All-Ireland Fleadh in the future.

Almost £3m paid to local farmers under DAERA suckler scheme
Nearly £3 million has been paid to farm businesses in Fermanagh and South Tyrone under DAERA’s Suckler Cow Scheme, the highest total among Northern Ireland constituencies. Agriculture Minister Andrew Muir reported that by 2 July 2026, more than 9,300 businesses across Northern Ireland had received £13.36 million in payments, with a few claims still being processed. The department declined to release farm‑level payment details, citing data‑protection obligations. The scheme supports beef producers and aims to improve animal welfare and the sustainability of the suckler herd.
