Paramedic struck off for telling stroke patient to 'stop being a baby' on 999 call
Paramedic Rachel Claire Lemonofides was removed from the HCPC register after a tribunal found that she verbally abused and racially discriminated against a patient during a January 2024 999 call. Despite symptoms including chest pain, low blood pressure, leg numbness and an abnormal ECG, Lemonofides allegedly dismissed the patient’s inability to walk, forcing her to crawl downstairs before she was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a brain bleed and abdominal aortic aneurysm. The tribunal upheld all six allegations, finding serious misconduct, discriminatory behavior and a high risk of repetition. North West Ambulance Service later restricted her duties and dismissed her.
