Paramedic told stroke patient 'stop being a baby' and accused her of lying
Paramedic Rachel Claire Lemonofides was struck off the Health and Care Professions Council register after a tribunal found that she belittled and abused a woman suffering a stroke and a life-threatening abdominal aortic aneurysm during a 999 call in January 2024. Lemonofides allegedly accused the patient of lying, ordered her to stop being a baby, and failed to recognise signs of serious illness, while also making racially discriminatory comments. The patient required emergency surgery, spent 10 days in a coma and had only a 50% chance of survival. The tribunal found all six allegations proven, deemed the misconduct incompatible with continued registration and identified a high risk of repetition. North West Ambulance Service said Lemonofides no longer worked for the trust and that patients must be treated with dignity and respect.
